The Winterthur Technology Group supplies precision grinding solutions for all materials that are essential for the production of most industrial, durable and consumer goods. We offer versatile solutions for these now commonly-used materials and we also use research and development, and extensive test series, to increase added value in production with our innovative grinding solutions. The main emphasis with materials that need grinding lies of course on the three basic types - steel, hard materials and glass - but we also develop solutions for precision machining of new compounds such as fibre plastic composites (FPC) for example. The great speed of innovation in material research with the premise "cheaper, lighter, harder" continuously leads to new materials/material combinations and so existing machining processes must also be adapted with correspondingly innovative solutions.
The key position in this context is represented by precision grinding: A large percentage of new materials can only be handled in production with innovative grinding technologies. These include new steel alloys, innovative compounds which, for example, involve metals and FPCs, and of course all the synthetically manufactured PCDs, CBNs and cermets used in the tool industry and whose development is also continuously driven forward. Our design engineers react to the innovative drive of the material researchers with new grinding materials and bonds that optimally match these new conditions.
